Maharaj Movie Review: Indian cinema has a strong tradition of bringing historical events to the screen, and Siddharth P. Malhotra's latest Netflix film, ''Maharaj", is a noteworthy addition. The film depicts the 1862 Maharaj Libel Case, a landmark legal battle often described as "the greatest trial of modern times since the trial of Warren Hastings."

Junaid Khan is son of Bollywood icon Aamir Khan, debuts as journalist and social reformer Karsandas Mulji. "Jaideep Ahlawat" takes on the role of Jadunathji Brijratanji Maharaj, a leader within the Vallabhacharya sect.


Director Siddharth P. Malhotra elicits strong performances from his cast. His direction is commendable, with the film being meticulously researched and beautifully capturing the 18th and 19th centuries.
